Zimbabwe People First President Rtd Brig Gen Agrippa Mutambara says his party is leaving the MDC Alliance because of fundamental differences.

ZIMBABWE’S PEOPLE FIRST PRESIDENT Rtd Brig Gen Agrippa Mutambara, former Zimbabwe Ambassador to Australia, announced at a press conference that his party is exiting from the MDC Alliance because of fundamental differences.
The Rtd Brig Gen Agrippa Mutambara in a press conference has stated that the Zimbabwe People First Party, is splitting from the MDC Alliance because of fundamental differences between them particularly, the big brother mentality displayed by the MDC in the run-up to the 2018 elections giving the Zimbabwe People First Party no respect recognition or importance.
Mutambara argued that the MDC Alliance did not operate as a united opposition force because MDC Alliance partners were ignored and sidelined by the bigger partners in the Alliance.
“What mattered most to the MDC leadership was the regrouping of the former MDC colleagues (Biti and Welshman Ncube ) the other four were regarded as cheer partners to be used conveniently to project a picture of a grand coalition. Whilst its true elections were rigged in favour of ZANU PF it’s also true the margin of victory for the Alliance was narrowed through undemocratic practices and underhand dealings by the big brother.”
Mutambara added that, after elections there were half-hearted efforts to turn the MDC Alliance into a single party a simple tactic to convert the fringe opposition parties into a recruiting ground for the MDC Alliance.
“The chance to turn the Alliance into a formidable political power was lost due to political chicanery by the MDC leadership. As President of ZPF and acting in the best interests of the party I refused to endorse the decision(to fully join MDC Alliance).”
This comes at a time it has been revealed that the MDC Secretary General Mwonzora has lost the battle for the Secretary General post to Charlton Hwende. The final election result for the MDC congress stands as follows in the MDC leadership electoral process that happened throughout the night is
